Two Serato DJ public betas are wrapping up today as the company launches finished software updates, Serato DJ Pro 2.1 and Serato DJ Lite 1.1. These are the first final-release versions of the software that incorporate streaming from both TIDAL and Soundcloud collections, as well as the standalone, hardware-free expansion pack, Serato Play. Serato DJ Pro 2.1
Here’s the quick summary of all the new features in Serato DJ Pro 2.1 – which is out now on on Serato’s website on the downloads section of their site.
- Streaming library support for SoundCloud + Tidal: watch the videos above and below to see each in action. It works well and generally without any hiccups – but worth noting that you need paid accounts on these sites to use this functionality and you cannot stream from both at the same time. Serato has also made a few playlists for every DJ to favorite on their own SoundCloud page to quickly try out the functionality of the streaming library.
- Serato Play expansion pack: Ever wanted to DJ with Serato and nothing else? It might not be ideal, but in a pinch, being able to mix with just the software is an invaluable function that Virtual DJ and Traktor users have enjoyed for 10+ years. With this new expansion pack, the software (and an internal mixer) is unlocked. It’s $39 to buy it outright, or you can subscribe to every expansion pack for $9.99/month.
- Rane SEVENTY-TWO firmware update:
- there’s three main features that this firmware update unlocks in the new Serato version – post-fader effects, fader start, and beat jump controls on the screen
- the new firmware also has improved pad response time + overall performance updates – it’s available here on Rane’s site.
- Mixars PRIMO support added
- Rane Twelve units get a reverse functionality (hit Cue Mode + Play/Pause).
- Serato DJ Lite 1.1 (the free starter version of Serato) gets the streaming features added as well.
